Jane Puylagarde

French artist Jane Puylagarde is internationally recognized for her striking monochromatic works that blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture. Originally trained in law and political science before launching a successful fashion career, Puylagarde developed her signature technique after a transformative encounter with an artisan in Mexico in the early 1990s. Using hairpins instead of traditional brushes, she meticulously builds thousands of layered acrylic droplets by hand, creating richly textured compositions that interact with light and shadow to produce a sense of movement and depth. Exhibited internationally and held in prominent private and public collections, her work explores themes of life, nature, the cosmos, and perpetual transformation through a distinctive visual language rooted in patience, precision, and reinvention.
